Fundamentals of Spanish
This year long class offers a basic introduction to the Spanish language. Students will practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The textbook used in this district is designed specifically for junior high students and considers the different learning styles. Fundamentals of Spanish covers the first half of the high school level 1 Spanish course. Ideally, students who take Spanish in both 7th and 8th grade at Thompson will advance to Spanish II at the high school.

Spanish I
This year long Spanish I class is a continuation of Fundamentals of Spanish. At the beginning of the year, we will view all of the major concepts taught in 7th grade.
Spanish I will be counted as a high school level class. This means that students enrolled in 8th grade Spanish I will receive high school credit for this course. The class will be graded by semester, and student's grades will be reflected on their high school GPA.
Students who master Spanish I will be eligible to advance to Spanish II at the high school only with a teacher recommendation.

In order to be successful in Spanish daily cooperative participation is required, as well as study time outside the classroom. Throughout the year we will build upon previously learned material, therefore, it is imperative that you do not fall behind.
